Manfield
New Village Hall
The new village hall was officially opened on 29th October by Mrs.U.Wilson at a ceremony attended by all the sponsors who have contributed so generously to the project.
The Chairman of the Hall Committee, Mr. Malcolm Hird, introduced Mr. Richard Wilson to the invited guests and he gave a history of the hall over the decades.
This new hall could not have been built without the generous support of the Wilson family and The Cliffe Estate.
Mr. Wilson then asked his mother to unveil a specially commissioned plaque and declare the hall open for the use of everyone in the village. Mrs. Jean Murrie, a trustee of the hall, then presented Mrs. Wilson with a bouquet of flowers.
Mr. Alan Dodd thanked the builders, Vest Construction Ltd. For their professionalism in bringing the completion of the hall in on budget and ahead of schedule.
The hall committee thanked Alan for his dedication and the hours of work it has taken to bring this project to completion.
To celebrate the opening a free event was held in the evening with a ceildh band and a buffet supper. This was brilliantly supported with large numbers turning out to have a look at the new facilities on offer.
The new hall is already proving very popular and is being well used.
The Village School is taking advantage of the superb facilities for PE and drama.
There are new courses on offer such as pilates as well as established favourites such as flower arranging and a badminton club runs two nights a week, Monday and Wednesday.
The Committee has already staged a concert featuring a French folk singer and people have commented on how wonderful it is to have a light, airy venue which is well equipped and warm.
The hall is available for private hire, so if you have a special event or party coming up and would like to take advantage of the state of the art facilities, please telephone
Peter Rickerby on 01325 374042 to book.
