Contrary to the impression given by its post code, the village of Manfield is situated at the most northern edge of Yorkshire and under the authority of Richmondshire County and District Councils.
There are 86 residences within the Village perimeter and a population of 200 in total across the Parish as a whole on the Electoral Roll, this includes a number of farms and Cliffe Estate, a part of which can be seen towards the top of the aerial photograph below.
Many years ago, most of the inhabitants were employed on the surrounding farms, but today, their occupations range from being self-employed business executives, teachers and retirement.
At the present day, we have a Pub and a School, but no longer a Shop or Post Office.
